Yr 7 and 8 Art Gallery

First week of school holidays

“Oh wow” I can’t believe it, because our school holidays have started so soon and fast too. For me it felt like I have only been at school for 2 weeks in term 2, and out of no where school holidays have started. Usually people are really happy and excited about the school holidays, because they get 2 weeks off from work. Well to be honest I was happy and no that happy, because I was scared that it would’ve rained most of the time.

I had a good feeling about our school holidays because this means that I get more family time with my family, get to post more stories about my amazing holidays. I had to do more netball training at my aunties and uncles house. On Friday straight after school when I arrived at home, me and my family went to my nanas house in panama, just to say hi and have a family meeting for Christmas.
To be continued

Wurst day ever

Saturday the 18th of July 2015 - 18.07.15

Have you ever had such a big puddle around your street or neighborhood? Well today is not a wonderful day to be playing out side because there was such a big storm, lightning, and rain happening last night. The puddle may not look that big in the photo but in person it sure does. It is just like the puddles that you have at school.

How did the puddle start? Well the thing that creates puddle is not only the rains fault. It is because you must have a deep whole where the whole that started, that is exactly our the puddle around my neighborhood started.

It starts the way everything starts, it starts small and makes its way bigger and bigger. The rain started poring down and a while later it got stronger and stronger.  “Oh” and out of know where I heard a “bang and boom” it was the lightning and storm that was coming out of the dark grey clouds from the sky. And that's what created the puddle.

Why is it dirty? Well the dirt mustn't already been on the hard concrete and as people drove past on there cars, there wheels mustn't been diary as well. The mud is always following you around. But about 4-5 hours later a “boom, bang, clash” sound came out of know where beneath our feet. It was the forks and fireworks that was happening in G.I last night celebrating Maori week “Matariki light trail”. So the puddle was a humongous disappointment but happily the forks made us feel better, even if we didn’t get the chance to see it close up. It just matters that we didn’t miss it by going to sleep but I know that it was loud enough to wake the entire city even.

“Wow” what such an enormous puddle, that has surrounded the neighborhood that these people live in. The color of the disgusting gigantic puddle is “brown, with a little touch of black”. From the looks of it people must been waling around it unless they have gumboots that are at least below your knees. But I know that everyone must be having such a dumb, boring, upsetting day today, because of the puddle that took over most of the space, unless there is a solution. Like some people going out in there cars, van, or trucks. Which is exactly what everyone would want to do if they didn’t want to stay in side feeling sad and lonely, but I would if there was time to have a little rest. So I thank the puddle and some people don’t thank it!

Family day out on the last day of school holidays

G.I Matariki Light Trail

17.07.15
Everyone who lives around G.I are lucky enough to have a night out at the “light trail”. Why did these wonderful people decided to do something so special and cool? Well this “light trail” isn’t that knew or old to us, because this happen only once a year, for 5 days one week. It is Maori language week and Matariki is the most important thing that always happens on Maori week.

Its just like when it is Samoan, Tongan, Cook Island and all those other countries week. They do a cultural performance for everyone or a Mihi telling and showing people who they are, where there from, and what they are like. For example “Ko lizara toku ingoa - My name is Lizara, No Glenn Iness toku kainganoho - I live in Glenn Iness, Tekau ma rua okau tau, I am 12 year old”.

Today is Friday the 17th 2015, and there is one day away from the “light trail”. And yes I did say that “the light trail starts and finishes 5 days at 6.30pm until midnight at 12.00”. But the only special thing about tomorrow which is Saturday the 18th, it is because the people who sets it up controls the entire thing lit up “forks”. I am so excited about tomorrow because me and my family, with my cousins and uncles will be going tomorrow to watch the “forks light trail”. Hopefully they have amazing and cool prizes that also go with the game and activities that will or should be held there.

Tinkering Tools & Toys

Today our year 7 and 8 zeal zone group, have been focusing on doing and thinking about better things that we can do, change, create and design around Pt England school. So we got switched into groups or 5-6 people and then think and brain storm about the things that we changed and do around our school. Me and my group have decided to do a arcade room near the dentist/reserve.

The firs thing that we had to do was get into our groups of 5 or 6 and start thinking about naming our group, and putting down some ideas of what we can do around the school in the Tinkering tools & toys presentation. Our team name is "the chicken wings crew". A while later, after morning tea we lined up outside of our class room and went for a walk around the school to see the places where we can put our buildings.

Letter to Eric and Jim

Lizara
Pt England School
67 Melbourne street
________________________________

Dear Eric Henry and Jim O’dwyer.

Hi my name is Lizara and I am letting you know that I have been expressing the bad things that you have been included in especially in such an old age for you to be doing things kinds of things. I understand that in 1939 - for years just after the good war ended the German people invaded and pollinated. That must of been a really hard time for you, as you didn't want this to happen.

And nearly 2 years after that the Especially since Eric went to war to expand and to include the Islands of the pacific. I hope you are alright in this situation of yours and your brother Eric Henry.
So I heard that you and Jim members of the 28th Maori battalion.

Mrs Tele'a - Siva Samoa birthday celebration

Today is the day when our most cleverest teacher in all of team 5, will be having the most wonderful day of her life, at Pt England school. So all the students in the year 7 and 8 block will be giving her a secret surprise when the clock strikes 10 past 9 (9:10). We were split up into our literacy groups (writing and reading groups) and waiting for the, “Siva Samoa”.

“Ohh” I didn’t tell you what and who the celebration was all about, and why our teacher Mrs Tele’a, was going to have to best day of her life. We sang the happy birthday song to her in the morning with her gifts, which was a delicious chocolate cake, a bottle of wine that she was a loud to drink at school if she wanted to and a packet of lollies.

“Yeeehaaa, cheer hoooo” said the boys who were starting up the samoan dance, or as I should say the siva samoa. It was a cultural performance, that all the teachers joined part of it even though 1 of our teachers didn’t know it, but 2 of our teachers were just videoing the performance to cherish this moment from then and now on.

Mr Wiseman and Miss Peato joined in with the siva samoa. Some of the students joined in, my best friend Quasia was doing the samoan cultural dance as well as everyone else. Miss Peato lay down with her tummy facing the ground and then Mrs Tele’a stood on top of her and jumped over. Then everyone just carried on dancing, until the song finished. It was the most happiest time of the day even though it was raining.

Suddenly the song finished and then everyone was clapping and saying, singing “happy birthday to you”. Then everyone went back into the literacy classrooms ready for our writing task. Hoping that we were not going to be distracted by the awesome performance that was held for Mrs Tele’a.

Back at school for 2015

My first day back at school has been strange and weird because I came a bit late in the morning and was wondering where my friends were gone. I saw the prefects standing up at the front of the hall near the stage saying the welcomes and introducing themselves. Then Mrs Te'lea called out the students names for them to enter their brand knew classes for 2015.

After a while she called out my name and I an going to be in class 4 with Mrs Moala for the rest of the year. I was quite happy because Mrs Moala is an amazing teacher and she use to teach my little sister 2 years ago. Once we got into class she introduced her self again and we did a little spread sheet which had questions on it and we had to ask people what they we like.

I am looking forward to this year and especially next year when I head of to college along with all the other year 8 students. Hopefully I will end this school of well and get huge improvements through out the entire year. Because it doesn't really feel like I am a year 8 this year I still feel like a year 7, especially with the new buildings and the new basketball courts that will be coming out.

My blog profile

Kia Ora! my name is Lizara and I am 12 years old. I am a year 8 student for 2015, and I go to Pt England School. I really love playing games/sports that has a lot of running in it. I have 2 parents and 5 sisters including myself. My favorite subject at school is maths, but most of the time I do silent reading. My main goal for this year is going to school every single day and earning points for my class. The people that I admire are my family.
