Pt England Yr7 Roses - The last Netball game for the Season

LAST NETBALL GAME - PT.ENGLAND!
Today is going to be the very last netball game of the season, so play your heart out, play hard and win the game for your team, families and for our school. (Tuesday the 26th of August 2014) “Wow, I can not believe that this will be the last netball game that we will be playing together for the season”. All the netball girls made their way to the netball courts and warmed up said their speech about how the season was and talk about how we are going to win this game. The other team arrived and we got into our positions and just waited for our referees to arrive.

The very first that we have to do before we began the game, the referees have to check our nails, and make shaw we are not wearing any jewellery. Then she calls out the captains from each team and they do rock, paper scissors to see who is going to have the ball and who picks their goal (where they have to shout) And I was the captain but I lost by rock, so it was their ball first. The Referees made their way onto the court and we began to play our game.

We came in the game and put in a lot of effort in our game and was in the lead even though they had the ball first. Now it was the 3 quarter nearly the end of our game and guess what? The other team was catching up very fast but the girls still played with happiness and feeling happy playing with the team for the last time. “Ohhhh, Sorry girls that we didn’t win our game tonight but I really hope you all had a fun time tonight”. The girls enjoyed it and the other team gave us free chocolate and so did Ana Va’afusuanga’s family did too, then we had a team photo together.

It is was to bad the we lost against A.S.J Starlings but you know what its not about winning its about giving it a try and just having fun. “I was so happy that the team had heaps of fun tonight and I hope they will sign up for netball next year as it will be the last year that we will be here at Pt England Primary school, because we will be in High School by the following year”. So the girls went home happy and proud they weren't angry that they lost their game they were proud of themselves that they just went out there and played their hearts out.”By the way we only lost by 2 points”.

I hope you girls have a wonderful time and just enjoy the rest of your year. I just hope you all sign up for netball next year and hopefully you guys make it into netball as well. “We are so sorry Miss Thompson for not winning our game for you, but unless we played our best, well the best game through the entire season” And we just wished if you could be their but you were there in our hearts and we carried it in our game. “And lost by 2 points, it was a close game and that was the great part”.

It was a game in the ancients that was created to help warriors develop self-defence skills. It is very popular in India and now it is been spread all around the world.

This game Kabaddi has now got a world cup championship. It has been included by clubs and schools for competitions who try and make it into the international round playing between other countries. It is a a contact sport which is a combination of other games, having similarities to rugby, capture the flag and wrestling. In the Sanskirt language the translation of the word Kabaddi means holding hands.

Kabaddi has 7 people in each team, and uses a range of skills. It is a simple game - all who need is a set of cones 5 people and a place to play on (field or court). The team on defence get 4 of their people to get into a chain by linking arms. The team on attack chooses 1 person to be the Raider who has to tag one of the defence. That person that was tagged has to chase the Raider, before she or he crosses the line. If that one person crosses the line before getting tagged that is one point to her team. But if she or he doesn’t make it then they don't get a point.

On defence if you get tagged, you have to try and tackle that person before he reaches the line. You have to restrain them until they run out of breath. What the Raiders has to do is say "Kabaddi" while running to tag their opponent and run back to their line in one breath. You have to have speed a strategy, aggression and most of all you have to win the game not only for your team for your school or club. Always have agility when you run and try to defend them from tagging you while being in a chain.

Kabaddi is a fun and popular game which has been spread all around the world for people to enjoy.

My Friend Neil - Lizara's Reading Task

My Friend Neil

Neil Baker’s friend offered him if he wanted to have a sleepover, at his house. Neil Baker felt quite excited and thought it might be a lot of fun so he said “yes”. So Neil Baker went home and packed his bags for the sleep over and Neil’s friend and his dad, came over to pick him up. The characters that are in this story is Neil and his mum and Neil’s best friend and his dad. Neil’s mum had to go ahead to her conference for the weekend. So Neil spent the rest of his weekend at his best friends house, instead of staying home alone.

When Neil made his way over to his friends house, he felt really excited and couldn’t wait to begin his sleepover, night. Neil’s best friend's dad told him some hilarious “jokes” but he didn’t really think it was that funny. After that they offered him if he wanted to practice playing cricket. Neil was the pitcher and Neil’s best friends dad was bowling. Neil’s best friends dad, was bowling real fast and the ball burst across his ribs and left a bad bruise.

Neil was feeling really scared and angry, because he was forced to eat more food from his best friends dad, and he also gave him a bad bruise across his ribs. He was very disappointed and annoyed, so he called his mum and asked her to pick him up earlier. When she arrived Neil’s best friend was really confused because he didn’t know that Neil was having a terrible time. Neil’s mum picked him up earlier, even before the conference wasn’t finished. So Neil went back to school and was avoiding his best friend, from that night that happened before.

Neil had been avoiding his best friend, well his old best friend, and he had to find some new friends. Because Neil didn’t like that weekend, he thought it was terrible and he never wanted to see him ever again.

The lesson in this story is that his old best friend should be more caring about the way, he plays and invites people over for the weekend. He needs to be more empathetic and kind, and not just talk about what his father has taught him but think about what you want to do. Because they are your friends and not your dads.

Lizara - Tornado Explanation planing template

Question: How do waterspouts form?
Explain why the population of the world has grown so rapidly, why it is an issue and ways in which this could be solved.

Key words in the question:
Introductory sentence: A waterspout is quite similar to a tornado, but the only difference is that the waterspout occurs over all the water. It is like a wet air of pillar that looks like a gigantic (huge) mushroom that connects to the surface on the water from the sky. Or something like a magical beanstalk which grows very tall, and tall enough to reach the sky.
What are you trying to explain? I am trying to explain the meanings of the story, and rewriting what the main idea is all about. And especially explaining what the story actually means and introducing the topic, that say’s in the very first sentence.
How: If the conditions (weather) is not in the perfect place. And if the puffy cottons wool cumulous, is not in the right place then that is one reason why it starts. And when the wind has been making movements in the air.
Who: The waterspouts or quite similar to a tornado.
When: It can happen when something is going wrong and if the weather is in a bad condition or place.
Why: ( DO NOT KNOW WHY? THERE IS KNOW REASON WHY)
Where: Well this can thing (waterspout - tornado) occur all over the entire world.
What points do you need to include? Well the main point that you would need to include is the key words that is in the story. Adding more information into your story, and making it more interesting.
What are the key words, ideas or information that you will need to use to answer the question? Decide on examples to support your ideas/illustrate your point.
How will you sequence your explanation? By writing more interesting words and sticking to 1 main idea, and introduce what the topic is.
Decide how to order your ideas and choose some linking words that may be suitable.
How will you end your explanation?  Ending it with a good hook to make the reader want to read more of your story. Add a lot of punctuation, controlling the way you do you complex and simple sentences. Make sure you are adding interesting vocab and adverbial clauses.
Is there a general statement that you can make to sum up your ideas? Well it all depends on what the story is about and what you are going to be making a statement about. If your writing about something that happened in the weekend or holidays, that you enoyed or if something bad went wrong. Or something that you are doing right know.

The Kahurangi Performance - Lizara

On Monday the 11th of August. That Pt England school will be watching a these 5 amazing people perform for us, They name is “kahurangi”. They are going to be showing us a kapa haka performance, on behalf of the Maori people and their family’s. The senior kids from class 8 to class 1, will be watching their performance straight after morning tea time. Before we watched the performance,  we had to bring a koha to school.

(A koha is something like, when a person say’s bring a gold coin to school for their fundraise. You can either bring a $1.00 coin or a $2.00 coin. It is just bringing something that you can bring, that is what a Koha is. It’s something powerful and friendly. Giving them what you can give).

The Kahurangi people were waiting patiently and clam for them to perform. They weren’t stressed or nervous, they were ready to begin. As we were walking into the hall and taking our seat, we sat down quietly waiting for the rest of the senior kids to come. Everyone made their way into the hall and the show began! Wow. “This is going to be so exciting” Everyone said.

There was only five people who is performing for us, and their voices are so loud that they can over sing 100 people. It’s not only their voices that was spot on, it was also their move’s. They do the actions properly, the way people should be doing their dance. And the thing that everyone enjoyed the most was that they gave everyone a big “SMILE”. That is the most important thing that should be in your head.

When they finished performing for us, they told us a little bit of themselves. They showed us some different kinds of sticks that they use sometimes. There was a small stick and it is called “ iti tokotoko” (maori word for small stick). Then there was another stick they showed us which was a tall stick called “ roroa tokotoko” (maori word for tall stick). And a Taiaha  that they used in the performance.

Kia-O-Rahi Writing

As both teams were getting ready to begin their game they stood up calm and steady, with a clear mine on just focusing on winning the game. The empire’s were setting up the game and the players, and their coaches were making a good strategy. The empire blew the whistle and the game began.

As the blue team took hold of the ball and impact the other team with speed, concentrating on hitting the Te Tupu to get the first score of the day. He ran fast and making an accurate aim leaping to the goal and scored a point to their team. Continuing the game with powerful skills tackling the other team from stealing the ball from them.

Between both of those teams red and blue, well the blue team won the game by 5 points. The score was 23 to blue and 18 points to team red. Since the blue team won they made it into the semi finals and if they do win this one they will make it to the final round. So the blue team went of and began to play their game. 20  minutes later they told the team what the final score was..........

The final score was 31 to the blue team and 24 points to the green team. So that means the blue team won by 7 points. “I think that the blue team has done really playing Kia-O-Rahi because they have never lost a single game today, just hope they don’t lose in the finals”. This time it got even harder because they had to play one of the best teams yet, they have power, speed, concentration and strength. But the blue team have skill, they use strategy in there game and that is what makes them win. They also work as a team. “Yeay, we won I can not believe that we won the finals against one of the hardest players here.

For a diver balanced they train or practice every single day trying to get be better and better to win the Olympic Games. It is just like being a gymnast, dancer, they practice the exact same like a diver balance. The very first thing for a characteristic to do is they need all the strength in them and flexibility. They have know the disciplines before being a diver balance. When they make it onto the platform they make sure that the springboard is right, to make it into the Olympic Games.

The requirements of being a diver balance is to be established, like not selling drugs or taking them. The judge always checks the people who is in the Olympic games and who is going to be in the Olympic Games. As the diver balance makes her way onto the platform standing up straight and steady, waiting to begin. Before she was going into the water she put your body caut so that she could make a clean entry and a minimum splash.

The scores that they are wanting to get is a minimum of 3 points for a clean entry and a flight. The highest score and it is the score of 10. When they take of into the water making a clean entry, the factor is to multiplied and that is why it is good to have the strength and you have to be flexible enough to twist and twirl when entering into the water.
